Purpose of Position/Summary:
The incumbent will provide primary support for the Indiana Women, Infants, & Children (WIC) call line and email.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provide support to the WIC Division 1-800 call line and email box by managing public inquiries and directing clients and potential clients to the appropriate resources.
- Provide basic division administrative support to WIC division staff in the absence of the WIC Administrative Assistant.
Job Requirements:
- Bilingual ability in Spanish is required. Additional language proficiency in Arabic, French, Haka Chin or Burmese are a plus.
- Medical Interpreter certification strongly preferred, but not required if candidate can demonstrate high proficiency in speaking, reading and writing Spanish.
- Ability to manage a high volume of phone calls and emails with a positive and supportive demeanor.
- Commitment to demonstrating compassion, kindness and tact when dealing with persons over the telephone and in person.
- Commitment to excellent customer service to WIC clients and to WIC and IDOH staff.
- Thorough knowledge of English and Spanish grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Attention to detail is a must.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to operate equipment necessary to departmental functioning.
- Ability to make clerical decisions regarding appropriate procedures within specific program area.
- Ability to read departmental documents.
This is a contract position employed through CAI. Day-to-day work is managed by Indiana Department of Health - WIC Division. Contract roles are reassessed annually.
Pay: From $22.10 per hour
