Position Title: 5th Grade Teacher
Reports To: Principal
Position Overview:
The 5th Grade Teacher is responsible for fostering a faith-filled, academically rigorous, and supportive classroom environment that promotes the spiritual, intellectual, social, and emotional development of each student. This teacher models Catholic values, builds strong relationships, and uses effective instructional practices to meet the diverse needs of learners.
Primary Responsibilities:
Faith Formation & School Mission

Support and actively model the mission of the Catholic school

Integrate Catholic teachings and values into daily instruction and classroom culture

Participate in school liturgies, prayer, and faith-based activities

Encourage students’ spiritual growth and moral development
Instruction & Curriculum

Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons in core subject areas (ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies, Religion)

Use a variety of instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs, including differentiation and small-group instruction

Incorporate accommodations and modifications aligned with students’ service plans, including ELL and Special Education plans

Incorporate technology effectively to enhance learning

Maintain clear and organized lesson plans aligned with curriculum expectations
Student Learning & Assessment

Assess student progress regularly using both formal and informal methods
-
Use assessment data to inform instruction and provide targeted support

Monitor and document progress toward goals outlined in student service plans (e.g., ELL, Special Education, or intervention plans)

Collaborate with specialists and support staff to ensure fidelity of services and student growth

Provide timely, constructive feedback to students

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance
Classroom Environment & Management

Establish a positive, structured, and respectful classroom environment

Implement school-wide behavior expectations and support systems

Teach and reinforce conflict resolution and problem-solving skills

Build strong relationships with students rooted in respect and care
Communication & Collaboration

Maintain consistent and professional communication with parents/guardians

Communicate proactively with families regarding student progress, including updates related to service plans when appropriate

Collaborate with colleagues in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs)

Work closely with support staff, including interventionists, ELL staff, and Special Education providers

Participate in case conferences, student support meetings, and required documentation processes

Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field

Valid state teaching license (or working toward licensure)

Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
