Position Overview
GH Construction Group is seeking a dependable, hardworking, and experienced Skilled Laborer / General Contractor to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in concrete construction, excavation, site preparation, and equipment operation. This position requires an individual who takes pride in quality workmanship, works safely, and can effectively contribute to residential and commercial construction projects.
Responsibilities
- Perform concrete demolition, removal, and site cleanup.
- Set and align concrete forms for driveways, patios, sidewalks, foundations, and other flatwork projects.
- Assist with concrete pouring, finishing, and curing processes.
- Install concrete and masonry steps according to project specifications.
- Operate skid steers, excavators, and other construction equipment safely and efficiently.
- Perform excavation, grading, and site preparation work.
- Read and interpret blueprints, measurements, and project plans.
- Assist with material loading, unloading, and transportation.
- Ensure compliance with all company safety procedures and OSHA regulations.
- Maintain equipment, tools, and job sites in clean and working condition.
- Work collaboratively with crew members to complete projects on schedule and within budget.
- Perform additional construction-related duties as assigned.
Desired Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in concrete construction, excavation, or general contracting.
- Proven experience with concrete removal, form setting, pouring, and finishing.
- Experience installing steps, sidewalks, patios, driveways, and related concrete structures.
- Ability to safely operate skid steers, excavators, and other heavy equipment.
- Strong understanding of construction safety practices.
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding work in various weather conditions.
- Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong work ethic, punctuality, and attention to detail.
- CDL license is a plus but not required.
- Experience in roofing, excavation, or additional construction trades is a plus.
