Overview
CARE Veterinary Services is seeking a compassionate, reliable, and energetic Kennel Assistant to join our growing rehabilitation and pain management team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working hands-on with animals, staying active throughout the day, and contributing to the recovery and well-being of pets with mobility challenges.
As a Kennel Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting patient care by assisting with therapeutic exercises, walking patients, maintaining equipment, and ensuring our facility remains clean, organized, and welcoming. Previous kennel, boarding, daycare, or animal care experience is preferred.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist with daily patient care and comfort
- Walk dogs and support supervised rehabilitation exercise
- Safely handle and restrain patients during treatments and procedures
- Assist with transferring, lifting, and supporting patients with mobility limitations
- Clean and disinfect kennels, treatment areas, and common spaces
- Perform laundry and maintain adequate supplies throughout the facility
- Assist with daily underwater treadmill cleaning, maintenance, and preparation
- Help maintain rehabilitation equipment and treatment areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition
- Monitor patient behavior and comfort, reporting concerns to the medical team
- Support the rehabilitation technicians and veterinarians with patient flow and daily operations
- Help create a positive experience for patients and their families
Qualifications
- Previous kennel, boarding, daycare, veterinary, or animal handling experience preferred
- Comfortable working with dogs of all sizes, breeds, and temperaments
- Experience with animal restraint and safe handling techniques required
- Ability to lift, assist, and support large dogs with mobility challenges, with team assistance as needed
- Comfortable performing physically demanding work including standing, walking, bending, and lifting throughout the day
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Interest in rehabilitation, sports medicine, or veterinary medicine is a plus

Part-Time Afternoon Position
Weekday availability required
Veterinary rehabilitation experience is a bonus but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate.
