SALARY: $35,000- $40,000.00, plus full benefits package
SUMMARY : This is routine clerical work in a county department. Duties include receiving, sorting, and distributing mail. The completion of assigned job duties is done under general supervision. Work involves contact with other department and county employees. This classification has no supervisory responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties include but are not limited to:
· Sorting mail and delivering to appropriate departments for distribution to individual employees, including some departments and buildings not in the Courthouse
· Picking up mail from each department; including departments and buildings not in the Courthouse, processing to apply appropriate postage; and delivering to post office
· Carrying express letters and/or packages to post office or other carrier location or drop box for delivery
· Performing courier functions including mailing and signing for/picking up certified letters or packages
· Performing incoming package/freight receipt functions including verifying and signing for incoming packages/freight and notifying departments of package/freight receipt.
· Delivering other Graphic Operations order packages when appropriate.
· Performing other duties as assigned

MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
· High school diploma or General Educational Development Certificate (GED)
· One year professional work experience
· An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
Ability and willingness to drive a county vehicle

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
· Possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license (Class C) and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
· Knowledge of county departments and their locations; understanding of their basic functions
· Knowledge of basic business mathematics: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
· Knowledge of rates charged for various delivery methods
- Skill in operation of postage meters
· Skill in typing and entering data into a computer system accurately and efficiently
- Skill in performing tasks which require attention to detail, and completing assigned jobs efficiently and correctly
- Ability to apply common sense to understand, follow, and complete verbal and written instructions
· Ability to carry packages and boxes of letters and packages
- Ability to communicate and interact clearly and effectively with all those contacted in the course of work in a professional and courteous manner, both orally and in writing
- Ability to make sound, independent decisions within policy guidelines by exercising good judgment and intelligent situation-assessment
- Ability to read and comprehend routine instructions, short correspondence and memos
· Ability to sort mail by department
· Ability to work independently in the absence of specific instructions or direct supervision
