Volunteer/Event Coordinator

MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH outreach to build event support, volunteer support, and community engagement!
We can train portions of the job, but we cannot train the personality needed for this role!

ACCOUNTABILITY:
The Volunteer/Event Coordinator reports directly to the Operations Supervisor, who is responsible for his/her performance evaluations. Hours are Monday – Thursday 9:30-4:30 and some evening and weekend availability for special events and volunteer coordination. The SERVE Food Pantry is open: Monday - Thursday from 11am – 4pm, and the 2nd Wednesday of each month is late until 6:30. Fantastic schedule!
MAJOR DUTIES
- Plan and execute the SERVE Tee-Off Golf Event with Staff, Vendors, and Golf Course Management Team
- Recruit, coordinate, and schedule Volunteers on an ongoing basis and for single events.
- Recruit, coordinate, and schedule Volunteers for the food pantry and office to ensure that the food pantry is adequately manned during distribution times.
- Recruit, coordinate, and schedule Volunteers for Stuff the Truck (STT) events with the goal of achieving a minimum of two STT events each weekend.
- Recruit, coordinate, and schedule Volunteers for weekly Mobile Produce Pantry distributions.
- Oversee volunteers that may be working offsite events., working closely with the Ops team to execute
- Communicate proactively with all Volunteers about all tasks they are to be performing in support of SERVE’s immediate needs.
- Maintain and update Volunteer database.
- Encourage and keep existing Volunteers informed via e-mail or other communications.
- Actively recruit Volunteers for the organization using various marketing tools, including Volunteer database, e-mail letters, and outreach events.
- Secure volunteers for mobile distributions and tabling events.
- Coordinate Volunteer appreciation days and weeks. Oversee 1/4ly volunteer appreciation recognition.
- Attend administrative team meetings, prepared with strategy for role success.
- Participate in Staff development activities and training as needed.
- Coordinate with Warehouse Manager to become cross-trained in Warehouse Inventory/Assistant Manager & Driver duties and assist in various tasks around the warehouse/pantry when primary duties permit and as requested by Warehouse Manager.
- Experience in Canva a plus. Must be able to create flyers
Skills & Experience!
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written skills for marketing opportunities and communicating with diverse groups.
- Organization: Strong organizational and multitasking abilities to manage scheduling and records.
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build relationships and support volunteers.
- Education/Experience: High School or GED education is fine, however you must have experience in this role!
- Google docs, Gmail, calendar, drive, sheets. Microsoft programs
- THIS IS A HANDS ON ROLE. YOU WILL BE WORKING SIDE BY SIDE WITH THE VOLUNTEERS.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
