St. Mary’s School in Simsbury, CT is excited to welcome additional Classroom Teacher Assistants to support our growing student body. This is a school day/school year only position and a wonderful opportunity to be part of a dynamic, faith-filled learning community committed to nurturing the academic and spiritual growth of every child. Position will begin in late August 2026.
Position Overview:
Teacher Assistants work closely with classroom teachers to support daily instruction and ensure a positive and productive learning environment for all students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support classroom instruction in individual, small group, and whole-class settings.
- Assist with lesson implementation and daily educational activities.
- Supervise and instruct students in the teacher’s absence.
- Foster a respectful, encouraging, and inclusive classroom culture.
- Help manage classroom behavior and reinforce school policies.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the classroom teacher or school leadership.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with children in a classroom or childcare setting.
- Understanding of child development and age-appropriate practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written).
- Team-oriented with a positive, flexible attitude.
- Genuine love for working with children and supporting their growth.
Schedule:
- While this position is a school day/school year only position, there are also opportunities for additional hours in our Extended Care program.
- We would also consider a job share for the hours for the position.
Additional Requirements:
- Must successfully complete a background check and fingerprinting.
- Completion of Virtus Training (online, through the Archdiocese of Hartford).
- Completion of DCF Mandated Reporter Training.
