Position Overview:
As a Level 2 System Engineer, you will play a vital role in analyzing user requirements, operational concepts, and high-level system architectures to craft robust system requirements specifications. You’ll lead design and development efforts, guiding users in formulating their needs, exploring alternative solutions, and conducting feasibility studies. Your technical leadership will be crucial in integrating requirements, design, and technology, ensuring that new plans and systems seamlessly fit into ongoing operations. Moreover, you will be responsible for producing high-quality technical documentation that supports our commitment to excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze and manage system requirements to ensure that production systems align with established system architectures, such as DoDAF and Service-oriented Architecture (SOA).
- Contribute to the development of essential systems engineering documentation, including System Engineering Plans, Initial Capabilities Documents, Requirements Specifications, and Interface Control Documents.
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to coordinate action items from Configuration Control Board meetings and various design and program reviews.
- Participate in Integrated Product Teams to design innovative capabilities while evaluating all necessary development and operational considerations.
- Generate alternative system concepts, physical architectures, and design solutions that meet stakeholder needs.
- Establish methods, processes, and evaluation criteria to verify that systems and subsystems meet their requirements.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of stakeholder needs, ensuring that lower-level requirements are complete, correct, and verifiable.
- Engage with the government on technical considerations and resolve any associated challenges.
- Prepare timeline analysis diagrams to illustrate the flow of time-dependent functions and manage changes to requirements effectively.
- Support planning and analysis for the DoD Certification/Accreditation Process and assist in the development of Joint Capability Integration Development System documents.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 14 years of experience as a Systems Engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
- A Bachelor’s degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related field from an accredited college or university is required. Alternatively, five (5) years of additional Systems Engineering experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
