Position: Field Project Manager
Shake Guys is one of Chicagoland’s leading specialists in cedar shake and premium composite shake and slate roofing systems. As we continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced and motivated Roofing & Construction Project Manager to join our team.
Our projects primarily include cedar shake roof replacement, repair, and preservation, along with DaVinci and Brava composite shake and slate roofing systems. We also perform custom copper and sheet metal work, gutters, siding, windows, doors, and miscellaneous exterior repairs. The Project Manager will oversee roofing and exterior construction projects from start to completion, including coordinating crews and subcontractors, monitoring workmanship and quality control, communicating with homeowners, and keeping projects organized and on schedule.
The ideal candidate will have previous roofing, construction, or exterior remodeling experience and be organized, detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable managing multiple projects and trades. Strong communication and customer service skills are essential. Your primary focus will be the quality control and construction management of large-scale residential roofing projects, ensuring each project meets Shake Guys’ standards for workmanship and customer satisfaction.

Compensation & Benefits

Project Manager Qualifications
- 5+ years of roofing, construction, or exterior remodeling experience
- Strong knowledge of residential roofing and construction practices
- Excellent organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple active projects and priorities throughout the day
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise crews and subcontractors
- Professional communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Comfortable inspecting roofing installations from a ladder and by drone
- Working knowledge of job-site safety procedures and construction best practices
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Excel
- Ability to make sound decisions and resolve job-site issues as they arise
- Fluent English required; basic Spanish is a plus but not required
- Willingness to work extended hours during peak roofing season and occasional weekends as needed
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
- Strong work ethic, dependable attitude, and ability to lead by example
Project Manager Responsibilities
- Oversee the construction and quality control of large residential roofing projects from start through completion
- Supervise roofing crews, subcontractors, and other exterior trades
- Visit multiple active job sites each day to monitor workmanship, progress, safety, and project quality
- Serve as the primary job-site contact for homeowners and provide professional project updates throughout construction
- Conduct multiple project inspections throughout the day and address installation or construction issues as they arise
- Verify that correct materials and quantities are delivered to each job site
- Coordinate with municipal inspectors and ensure applicable permit and inspection requirements are satisfied
- Maintain accurate daily project notes, photos, progress updates, and other documentation within the company CRM
- Maintain clear communication with customers, the Production Manager, office staff, crews, subcontractors, and other members of the production team
- Use company-provided drone equipment to document projects with detailed before, during, and after photos, including completed roofing and exterior construction work
- Help ensure every project meets Shake Guys’ standards for workmanship, organization, cleanliness, and customer satisfaction
