Under direct supervision, mascot will be responsible for bringing school spirit to life by embodying our beloved KC The Cavalier at various school events, athletic games, special events, and community engagements. This position will engage with students, families, and staff to create a fun and memorable experience for all involved.
A. Portrays our school's mascot character, demonstrating high levels of energy, enthusiasm, and positive attitude.
B. Performs entertaining and engaging routines, dances, and cheers to encourage crowd participation and boost school spirit during sporting events, community events, and other school functions.
C. Interacts with students, parents, and staff members, providing photo opportunities and creating a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere.
D. Attends community events, parades, and fundraisers as the mascot representative, promoting school pride and community involvement.
E. Maintains the cleanliness and proper care of the mascot costume and accessories, ensuring they are in good condition for each appearance.
F. Collaborates with the Student Life Coordinator, and athletic teams to coordinate mascot appearances and integrate mascot activities into school programs.
G. Acts as an ambassador for the school, exemplifying good sportsmanship, positive behavior, and a sense of inclusivity.
H. Follows safety guidelines and protocols during performances, considering the welfare of yourself and others.
A. A high school diploma or equivalent, required.
B. Applicant must be able to fit standard size large body suit.
C. Must be a current student at Kankakee Community College enrolled in six or more credit hours during fall or spring semesters. For summer employment, student must be enrolled in three or more credit hours in the summer term and/or six or more credit hours during fall semester.
D, Must be in good academic standing with the college.
E. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to interact with diverse audiences, including students, parents, and staff members.
F. Outgoing, friendly, and enthusiastic personality that can captivate and engage an audience.
G. Physical stamina and ability to perform in a mascot costume for extended periods, in various weather conditions.
H. Experience in performing arts, cheerleading, dance, or related activities is desirable but not mandatory.
I. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays, as per the school's event schedule.
J. Reliable and punctual with a strong sense of responsibility and commitment.
K. A genuine passion for promoting school spirit and fostering a positive school community.
L. Must sign a statement of confidentiality, conduct and behavior.
M. Student is required to read and agree to the KCC Student Employment Agreement.
N. Federal Work-Study students should also read and agree to the program rules and regulations.
O. Must be able to work day and evening hours.
P. Work schedule and hours may vary. Students may work a maximum of 20 hours per week (15 hours average).
