Position Summary
This hands-on role involves performing repairs, preventive maintenance, installations, and fabrication work on balers, compactors, stationary compactors, and other industrial waste/recycling equipment. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude, with a focus on hydraulics, electrical systems, welding, and metal fabrication to ensure safe, reliable, and productive equipment operation. Ideal for motivated mechanics who enjoy fieldwork, troubleshooting, and building/customizing components.
Principal Responsibilities
- Perform thorough inspections, diagnostic testing, preventive maintenance, and repairs on compactors, balers, augers, and other stationary waste/recycling equipment.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics; diagnose and repair issues on single- and three-phase AC systems.
- Read and interpret hydraulic schematics; diagnose and repair hydraulic problems efficiently.
- Perform welding and fabrication tasks, including structural repairs, custom modifications, part fabrication, and reinforcements to restore or enhance equipment durability.
- Complete accurate paperwork and digital data entry for service records, parts usage, and job reports in a timely manner.
- Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA standards while working on-site at customer locations.
- Travel within Eastern Wisconsin (and occasionally to nearby regions) for scheduled and emergency service calls.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Proven welding and fabrication skills/experience (MIG/TIG/stick welding, blueprint reading, metal cutting/forming, structural fabrication) – highly preferred; we are willing to train motivated candidates with mechanical aptitude.
- Experience with hydraulics, electrical systems, and/or heavy equipment repair (waste/recycling equipment a plus).
- Exceptional customer service skills and professional communication.
- Clean driving record and valid driver's license (company vehicle provided for service calls).
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to work independently or in a team.
- Willingness to participate in on-call/emergency rotation for urgent repairs.
