Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Automotive Shop Manager to lead our automotive service team with energy and enthusiasm. In this pivotal role, you will oversee daily shop operations, ensure exceptional customer service, and drive business growth through effective management of technicians and service processes. Your mechanical expertise combined with strong leadership skills will ensure that vehicle repairs and maintenance are performed efficiently, accurately, and to the highest standards. Duties
- Manage daily shop operations, including scheduling, workflow coordination, and quality control to maximize productivity and customer satisfaction
- Lead, motivate, and supervise a team of technicians, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and repair standards
- Oversee automotive diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance services such as oil changes, brake repairs, alignments, suspension work, tire services, transmission repairs, engine work, shocks & struts, and brake systems
- Drive sales through upselling additional services and auto estimating while maintaining transparency with customers about repair needs and costs
- Ensure accurate service writing and computer-aided vehicle damage estimating for efficient invoicing and documentation
- Maintain high levels of customer service by addressing client inquiries promptly and professionally
- Manage cash handling procedures and maintain detailed records of transactions and shop activities
Requirements
- Proven experience in auto service management or dealership environments with a strong understanding of automotive diagnostics and repair processes
- Mechanical knowledge of various vehicle systems including transmissions, brakes, suspensions, air brakes, alignments, tire services, diesel engines, shocks & struts
- Hands-on experience as a service technician or mechanic is highly desirable to understand technical aspects of repairs
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate a team and foster a positive work environment
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients
- Proficiency in auto estimating software and computer-aided vehicle damage estimating tools
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record for occasional driving responsibilities
- Ability to handle cash transactions accurately and maintain detailed records of all shop activities
