Responsibilities
- Administer immunizations in accordance with state and federal regulations, following proper aseptic technique and medication administration protocols
- Conduct thorough patient assessments to determine eligibility for vaccines, including reviewing medical history and medication lists
- Provide patient education on vaccine benefits, potential side effects, and post-vaccination care to promote informed decision-making
- Manage inventory of vaccines and related supplies, ensuring proper storage, stock levels, and documentation in pharmacy software systems
- Maintain accurate documentation of immunizations administered within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems while adhering to HIPAA privacy standards
- Support pharmacy operations by assisting with medication compounding when necessary and ensuring compliance with sterile technique procedures
- Collaborate with healthcare providers on medical management plans for patients requiring specialized care such as pediatrics or critical care cases
Skills
- Proven experience in pharmacy practice with a focus on immunizations and patient service delivery
- Strong knowledge of LTC (Long-Term Care) pharmacy, critical care environments, and acute care settings
- Familiarity with pharmacy software applications, EMR (Electronic Medical Records), and EHR systems for documentation and inventory management
- Competence in compounding medications, IV infusion techniques, aseptic procedures, and IV insertion skills
- Excellent understanding of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and medication administration protocols
- Experience with patient assessment techniques across diverse populations including pediatrics and adult patients
- Ability to navigate HIPAA regulations diligently while managing sensitive patient information
- Previous pharmacy technician experience is advantageous for supporting pharmacy operations efficiently
