JOB SUMMARY:
The Regional Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator - Northeast will be accountable for directing and implementing all Company environmental health and safety programs, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, standards, and requirements, for the Northeast region of Tilray Beer. He/she will be relied upon to establish a proactive safety environment and culture at each of our breweries.
This position reports to the Director of Operations - Northeast and is based at Blue Point Brewing Company in Patchogue, NY.
Salary: 75,000 - 85,000 annually
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Responsible for EHS programs at Blue Point Brewery in Patchogue, NY; BrewDog Brewery in Columbus, OH; and Atwater Brewery in Detroit, MI.
- Leads and drives a proactive EHS culture
- Ensures facilities meet state and federal OSHA safety standards and federal/local environmental requirements.
- Manages local/state or OSHA/EPA site inspections.
- Knowledge and experience to provide effective training on all appropriate safety/environmental related topics
- Development of EHS improvement initiatives and the daily management of on-going EHS operations
- Collaborate with other Tilray Beer EHS leaders to create and implement EHS strategies and best practices
- Provide leadership to senior management team regarding the EHS strategic objectives and regulatory compliance issues
- Directs activities to conduct investigations, identify root cause and recommend corrective measures
- Represents the facility to external regulatory agencies and supports the negotiation of penalties
- Point-of-contact for EHS vendors, effective at managing vendor relationships
- Basic understanding of Workers’ Compensation
- Directs activities to compile EHS information and other data as required by Zone, State and Federal agencies (OSHA, EPA, and state /local equivalents)
- Identify unsafe behaviors and unsafe conditions in the workplace using regulatory requirements & safety best practices
- Contributes to the overall needs and objectives of the breweries
- Interpret regulatory requirements (federal, state, and provincial) and apply them to the workplace
- Occasional travel to other breweries required
JOB QUALIFICATIONS :
- Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental, or related field
- 1-3 years leading or coordinating Safety/Environmental programs
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Familiarity with OSHA/EPA and state rules and regulations
- Investigative, analysis and problem-solving skills. Six Sigma training or equivalent highly desired
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to lead teams and facilitate effective meetings. Strong presentation skills for staff and team member events
- Strong leadership skills, a comfort level with change, and the ability to lead change
- Values Teamwork and can collaboratively work with all levels of the organization. Can encounter workplace conflicts and build/maintain strong relationships
- Effective decision making and a willingness to use available resources to accomplish goals. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Acts with integrity in all EHS matters to maintain EHS compliance and excellence
- Independently motivated and takes initiative
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- While work is primarily conducted in a sitting position, this job requires frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, climbing stairs/ladders, and light lifting. Occasional forklift use may be required. Occasional working at heights may be required.
- Working conditions may be hazardous at times, potentially placing the individual in conditions applicable to each position in the brewery.
