The Research Foundation for the State University of New York at Plattsburgh (RF-SUNY) is seeking a qualified candidate with technical and practical skills for the position of Educator, to provide education and staff support with The Lake Champlain Research Institute (LCRI) at SUNY Plattsburgh. SUNY Plattsburgh is a regional leader in environmental science and ecology with strong undergraduate and graduate programs. The Lake Champlain Research Institute is a hub for research on campus with many ongoing projects. Job Description
Function and Scope
The Education Specialist will support ongoing outreach for the Lake Champlain Research Institute to include the Lake Champlain Discovery Center. Responsibilities include coordination of education activities, staffing the Center during operational hours, implement education programs and support LCRI staff in the development of current and future programs.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Support ongoing outreach projects in LCRI focused on the Lake Champlain Discovery Center.
· Coordinate education activities, including education space set up and design, implement ongoing outreach center plans.
· Work with partners to develop materials, websites, outreach communications.
· Implement programs, support operational hours for programs.
· Support ongoing programs, maintenance of exhibits, order supplies, manage student support teams.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
B.S. or B.A. in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, or related fields and experience with Lake Champlain outreach and education programs.
· Must have experience with environmental education and outreach planning and implementation.
· Evidence of organizational skills and working with student educators.
· Ability to work under general supervision, and collaboratively as part of a team.
Certifications/Licenses
· Valid driver’s license
Additional Information
Salary Range: $40,000 to $45,000 ccommensurate with education, qualifications, and field experience. Excellent benefit package.
