The Western Connecticut Area Agency on Aging (WCAAA) is committed to empowering older adults, caregivers, and individuals with disabilities to live with dignity and independence. Our Aging and Disability Resource Center, CHOICES, and Caregiver & Respite teams provide vital support, advocacy, and resources to the communities we serve.
We are looking for a compassionate, resourceful, and highly skilled Service Navigator to join our team. In this role, you’ll help individuals access services, provide options counseling, and offer hands-on support to connect clients with long-term services and supports.
What You’ll Do
- Provide timely information, referrals, and application assistance in-person, by phone, email, or home visits.
- Conduct detailed assessments and offer options counseling to help clients understand and access available services.
- Collaborate with municipal agents, senior center directors, and community organizations to support client needs.
- Work with the Benefits Access Team and connect consumers to other WCAAA programs.
- Complete required certifications (CHOICES, AIRS, and Person-Centered Counseling) within the first 6 months.
- Participate in outreach presentations, workshops, and trainings as needed.
- Maintain accurate records, meet annual program targets, and complete required reports.
What We’re Looking For
- Bilingual in Spanish strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of aging services, long-term options, and caregiver issues.
- BA/BS degree in human services or related field preferred; Associate’s degree with 5–7 years of relevant experience considered.
- Direct experience in human services (especially working with seniors) preferred.
- Strong interviewing, counseling, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Valid CT driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to lift/carry 5–10 lbs. and work in diverse environments.
