RVision Homes is a family-owned luxury custom home builder serving North Houston for more than 20 years. We're seeking an experienced Residential Architectural Designer to join our Design Studio and collaborate with our Sales, Engineering, and Construction teams to guide clients through the custom home design process.
Position Summary:
The Residential Architectural Designer leads homeowners through the custom home design process—from initial concept to construction-ready documentation. Working closely with our Sales, Engineering, and Construction teams, this role combines architectural design, advanced visualization, and construction expertise to create thoughtfully designed, buildable homes while delivering an exceptional client experience.
Primary Responsibilities
- Design custom luxury homes tailored to each client's lifestyle, vision, budget, and homesite.
- Produce complete construction-ready plan sets, including floor plans, elevations, roof plans, electrical layouts, cabinet layouts, schedules, and architectural details.
- Coordinate with structural engineers and internal teams to ensure every design is accurate, feasible, code-conscious, and ready for construction.
- Review plans for constructability and proactively resolve design conflicts before construction begins.
- Partner with the Sales Team to guide homeowners through the custom home design process.
- Lead collaborative design meetings using 2D and 3D visualization tools while making live plan revisions.
- Educate clients on design options, functionality, and construction considerations.
- Deliver a personalized, white-glove design experience from concept through final approval.
- Create photorealistic exterior and interior renderings.
- Develop virtual walkthroughs that allow clients to experience their future home before construction begins.
- Incorporate finish selections, colors, materials, lighting, cabinetry, and architectural details into realistic visual presentations.
- Support Marketing with presentation-quality renderings for digital and print materials.
- Work closely with Sales, Purchasing, Engineering, Project Management, Construction, and Marketing.
- Support Construction by answering design-related questions and maintaining design intent throughout the building process.
- Continuously improve design standards, workflows, and client presentation materials.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Architectural Design, Residential Design, Interior Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 7 years designing custom residential homes.
- Experience with a residential architecture firm, luxury custom home builder, or residential design-build company.
- Proven ability to create complete, buildable residential construction document packages.
- Experience coordinating with structural engineers and construction teams.
- Experience leading client design meetings and collaborating closely with sales professionals.
- Experience working directly with homeowners throughout the custom home design process is strongly preferred.
- Strong portfolio showcasing luxury residential projects from concept through construction.
- Ability to produce complete construction-ready residential plan sets.
- Experience creating high-quality 2D and 3D residential presentations.
Strong understanding of residential architectural design, residential construction methods, structural coordination, building codes, construction documentation, space planning, luxury home detailing, material coordination, and construction feasibility.
