Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and responsible standby Bus Driver to transport students safely to and from school and various events. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children, ensuring their safety. This role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to manage diverse groups of children. This position will also require that the candidate be able to adapt to any route given at the last moment.
Duties
- Safely operate a school bus or commercial vehicle following all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Ensure the safety of all passengers by conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus.
- Maintain a clean and orderly bus environment conducive to learning.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff regarding schedules, routes, and any concerns that may arise.
- Assist children in boarding and exiting the bus safely, providing support as needed.
- Educate students about safety procedures while on the bus.
- Manage behavior on the bus to ensure a respectful and safe atmosphere for all passengers.
- Document any incidents or issues that occur during transit in accordance with company policies.
Experience
- Previous experience in bus driving or commercial driving is preferred but not required.
- Experience working with children in a childcare or educational setting is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for interacting with students and parents effectively.
- Multilingual abilities are a plus, enhancing communication with diverse student populations.
- A valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with school bus and passenger endorsements is required for this position.
