Position Profile
Edison School District 54JT is seeking a dedicated and student-centered educator to serve as a 4th & 5th Grade Combined Classroom Teacher. This position provides an opportunity to teach in a small, supportive rural school environment where strong relationships and individualized instruction are prioritized.
Teachers at Edison benefit from an approximately 5:1 student-to-teacher ratio and a 4-day school week, allowing for meaningful instruction, strong student connections, and a balanced professional schedule.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide standards-based instruction in English Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science to 4th and 5th grade students
- Design and implement lesson plans that meet the needs of diverse learners in a combined classroom
- Differentiate instruction to support varying academic levels and learning styles
- Utilize formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and guide instruction
- Establish and maintain a positive, structured classroom environment that promotes respect and engagement
- Integrate technology and hands-on learning opportunities where appropriate
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to support student success and school initiatives
- Participate in professional development and school improvement efforts
- Perform additional duties as assigned by administration
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or related field
- Valid state teaching license (or ability to obtain)
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
