MDG Material Master Techno/ Functional consultant

Designs, codes, and configures custom solutions within SAP MDG and S/4HANA. They translate complex business requirements into technical objects—focusing on BRF+ workflows, UI modeling, data replication, and custom ABAP programming to ensure high-quality, governable master data. Funds Management (FM) Consultant designs and enforces centralized data governance, quality, and replication rules for public sector or grant-related financial master data. This specialist ensures accurate hierarchy management across SAP S/4HANA, ECC, and integrated systems Data Quality & Governance: Enforce policies for material lifecycle management.
- Technical Design & Development: Design and configure complex BRF+ applications, decision tables, rulesets, validations, and derivations.
- Workflow Configuration: Build and manage parallel/sequential workflows (single and multi-step change requests).
- UI & Data Modeling: Develop and enhance user interfaces using FPM (Floorplan Manager), Fiori, and Web Dynpro.
- Set up and manage data replication frameworks (DRF/DIF) to ensure seamless master data synchronization across SAP (S/4HANA/ECC) and non-SAP systems.
- Custom ABAP Development: Write clean OO ABAP, AMDP (ABAP Managed Database Procedures), and CDS views.
- Experience: Typically 4 to 8+ years of SAP experience, with a minimum of 3–5 years specifically focused on SAP MDG.
- Master Data Domains: Deep understanding of master data objects, including Business Partner (BP) / Customer / Supplier, Materials, or Financials (GL, Cost Centers).
- Technical Stack: Proficiency in Object-Oriented ABAP, BRF+, OData, and SAP Fiori.
- Framework Expertise: Strong background in Central Governance, Mass Processing, and Data Quality Management (DQM).
- Hands-on experience working on end-to-end MDG implementation or S/4HANA upgrade projects.
- Knowledge of SAP Activate Methodology, Agile (Scrum) frameworks, and DevOps tools (e.g., JIRA, ATC checks).
- Relevant SAP Certifications in MDG or ABAP.
- SAP MDG Material Master Functional Consultant designs, configures, and implements enterprise-level data governance solutions.
- Lead workshops to capture business rules, map master data workflows, and design Material Master data models.
- MDG-M Configuration: Set up the MDG framework including data modeling, UI FPM modeling, and process modeling.
- Configure change request workflows, validation/derivation rules using BRF+.
- Data Quality & Governance: Enforce policies for material lifecycle management.
- Replication & Integration: Configure DRF, SOA/Web services, and IDocs for data synchronization.
- Testing & Support: Conduct Unit Testing and support UAT.
- Functional Expertise: Deep understanding of SAP MM processes.

- Data Replication: Configure Data Replication Framework (DRF) to push master data changes across SAP ECC, Central Finance, and non-SAP systems.
- Data Quality & Compliance: Define governance policies, establish master data quality rules, and set up duplicate checks and approval matrices.
- Cross-Module Integration: Map Funds Management elements to core FI/CO components like General Ledger (G/L), Profit Centers, and Cost Centers.
- Write functional specifications for ABAP/UI developers, perform end-to-end testing, and manage cutover/data migration activities.
- Domain Expertise: Strong functional background in SAP S/4HANA Finance and Public Sector Management (PSM), specifically Funds Management (FM) and Grants Management (GM).
- Technical Proficiency: Hands-on expertise in SAP MDG Architecture, BRF+, Workflow configuration, and Data Replication.
- Integration Knowledge: Understanding of IDocs, SOA/Web Services, and ALE configurations for master data distribution.
- Typically requires 5 to 10+ years of SAP experience, including multiple full-lifecycle MDG implementations.
- 5–10+ years in SAP S/4HANA Finance and ECC FI/CO.
- MDG Frameworks: Expertise in data modeling and DRF.
