Production Manager
AAIM Job Posting - Confluent Holdings
Confluent Holdings is seeking a Production Manager to run the daily operation of one of our manufacturing plants. This is the seat that decides whether the plant is a controlled operation or a daily firefight. Done well, the schedule holds, the floor knows what's next, the team is staffed and trained, equipment stays up, and customers take delivery on time. If you take pride in a plant that runs on rhythm rather than reaction, we want to talk.

The Production Manager oversees daily operations at an assigned Confluent Holdings operating company, ensuring production schedules, quality standards, and customer commitments are consistently met. Core responsibilities include:
-
Oversee daily production operations across all assigned departments (die-making, die-cutting, laser, rule bending, assembly, press, bindery, finishing, and related operations).
-
Develop and communicate the production schedule; sequence jobs against customer commitments, equipment capacity, and staffing; adjust as conditions change.
-
Hold daily production meetings with supervisors, leads, and Customer Service to align on priorities, exceptions, and customer deadlines.
-
Drive on-time delivery and throughput; identify bottlenecks and act on staffing, equipment, or workflow adjustments to keep work moving.
-
Build capacity planning and utilization models that translate the order book into a realistic short-term schedule and an honest long-term outlook.
-
Create, track, and report production KPIs - throughput, on-time delivery, scrap, downtime, safety, and labor utilization.
-
Supervise Production Supervisors, Leads, and operator teams; full supervisory authority including hiring, training, performance management, and corrective action in partnership with HR.
-
Manage labor: timecards, attendance, overtime, and shift coverage; balance labor cost against schedule commitments.
-
Drive cross-training across operator roles to maximize workforce flexibility and reduce single-point-of-failure dependence.
-
Own machine availability and condition; drive preventive maintenance discipline and partner with Maintenance on repairs and capital recommendations.
-
Partner with Purchasing to ensure operational materials and consumables (gas, parts, substrates, ink, dies, plates) are available when scheduled.
-
Ensure adherence to all company safety standards, OSHA requirements, and applicable regulations.
-
Communicate quality standards; review non-conformance issues, implement corrective actions, and minimize errors and rework.
-
Partner with customers as needed on quality, technical, or performance concerns; conduct customer press checks where required.
-
Manage departmental budgets including labor, overtime, and consumables.
-
Provide daily updates to the Plant Manager or General Manager on plant activity, exceptions, and improvement initiatives.
-
High school diploma or equivalent required.
-
Associate's degree or technical training preferred.
-
Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Manufacturing, Business, Graphic Arts Technology, or related field preferred but not required with equivalent experience.
-
7+ years of operations or production management experience required; 10+ years preferred, with at least 5 years of direct supervisory experience.
-
Demonstrated experience managing production in a corrugated packaging, folding carton, die-making, print finishing, or related manufacturing environment.
-
Track record of delivering production goals for safety, quality, customer service, throughput, and cost control.
-
Strong technical understanding of production processes (die-making, die-cutting, laser cutting, rule bending, press, bindery, finishing, or related) sufficient to run the floor credibly.
-
Experience with ERP and order-entry systems, production scheduling, and capacity planning.
-
Familiarity with CAD software (ArtiosCAD, Cimex, AutoCAD, Impact, Laserpoint, Interact, or equivalent) preferred.
-
Lean manufacturing or ISO 9000 training a plus.
-
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for scheduling and KPI tracking.
-
None required.
-
Lean, Six Sigma, OSHA, ISO 9000, or forklift certifications a plus.
-
Working-manager presence - you spend meaningful time on the plant floor, not behind a desk. You know the equipment, you know the operators, and you're visible during peak.
-
Schedule-and-staff judgment - you know when to add overtime, when to add headcount, when to push out a commitment, and when to invest in equipment. You protect the plant from both over-promising and under-delivering.
-
Bench builder - you develop Supervisors, Leads, and senior operators so the plant has a pipeline of leadership ready to step up, rather than running on a small group of irreplaceable people.
-
Strong problem-solving and leadership instincts, with the integrity to do the right thing even when it's hard.
-
Collaborative, team-first mindset; flexible, frugal, and entrepreneurial in approach to continuous improvement.
Base salary of $100,000, with eligibility for an annual performance bonus. Confluent Holdings offers a competitive benefits package including health, dental, and vision coverage, retirement savings, and paid time off.
On-site at our North Attleboro, MA facility. The role splits time between an office workspace (scheduling, reporting, capacity planning) and substantial daily presence on the production floor, where you'll be around moving machinery, moderate-to-high noise, and incidental exposure to inks, solvents, substrate dust, and adhesives. Required PPE includes safety glasses, closed-toe footwear, and hearing protection when on the production floor. Hours may extend beyond standard during peak production cycles. Pre-employment physical examination and drug screening may be required.
