Responsibilities
- Provide attentive pet care by feeding, watering, administering medications, and monitoring health during their stay or daycare visits
- Handle dogs safely using proper animal restraint techniques and ensure their comfort through gentle handling and behavior management
- Maintain cleanliness of kennels, play areas, and grooming stations through regular sanitization and organization to uphold health standards
- Assist with pet boarding procedures, including check-in/check-out processes and updating pet records accurately
- Engage dogs in supervised play, training activities, and outdoor walks to promote exercise and mental stimulation
- Support team lifting efforts when moving large or heavy animals or equipment safely to prevent injury
- Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding their pets’ status, special needs, or behavioral concerns to ensure transparency and trust
Skills
- Prior veterinary experience or veterinary technician background that demonstrates animal health knowledge
- Pet sitting or pet care facility experience showcasing your ability to handle multiple animals confidently
- Dog training skills that help in managing behaviors and encouraging positive interactions
- Kennel experience with familiarity in cleaning protocols, animal restraint, and animal handling techniques
- Customer service skills to provide friendly assistance to pet owners and visitors
- Pet grooming knowledge to assist with bathing, brushing, or basic hygiene tasks as needed
- Outdoor work experience involving walking dogs or supervising outdoor play areas in various weather conditions
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining proper body mechanics during animal handling or equipment movement
- Animal behavior understanding to recognize signs of stress or illness and respond appropriately
- Commitment to sanitation practices ensuring pet care facility cleanliness and safety standards are consistently met
