An established and growing organization is seeking an experienced Payroll & Billing Supervisor to lead payroll and billing operations in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with extensive multi-state payroll experience, strong knowledge of payroll laws and regulations, and the ability to thrive in a high-volume environment. This individual must have experience managing payroll across multiple companies and processing payrolls that include employee stipends.
Responsibilities
- Supervise the daily operations of payroll and billing functions.
- Process and oversee accurate multi-state payroll for a high-volume workforce across multiple companies.
- Process payrolls that include taxable and non-taxable employee stipends while ensuring compliance with applicable payroll and tax regulations.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
- Review payroll reports, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues promptly.
- Oversee client billing to ensure timely and accurate invoicing.
- Collaborate with Human Resources, Accounting, Operations, and leadership to ensure payroll and billing accuracy.
- Train, mentor, and support payroll and billing staff while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Develop and improve departmental processes and procedures.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of employee payroll, compensation, financial, and company information.
- Assist with payroll audits, tax reporting, and year-end processing.
QualificationsRequired:
- Minimum 5 years of multi-state payroll experience.
- Experience processing high-volume payrolls across multiple companies.
- Experience processing employee stipends, including taxable and non-taxable stipends.
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience.
- Strong working knowledge of:
- Federal and state payroll laws
- Wage and hour regulations
- Payroll taxes
- Paid leave and sick leave requirements
- Garnishments and deductions
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines while managing high-volume payroll operations in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- High level of integrity and professionalism.
- Proven ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
Preferred:
- Experience in healthcare staffing, healthcare, or a similarly fast-paced industry.
- Experience with payroll systems.
- Experience supervising payroll and billing teams.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field.
