Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and organized Trucking Coordinator to manage our trucking fleet and operations. In this role, you will serve as the central point of contact for coordinating truck assignments, ensuring our construction projects have the equipment they need while efficiently subcontracting trucks during slower periods. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, a strong communicator, and thrives in a fast-paced construction environment.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily dispatching and scheduling of our dump trucks, mixer trucks, and lowboys to support active construction projects.
- Prioritize and allocate trucks to internal jobs to ensure timely material delivery and project efficiency.
- Identify opportunities to subcontract idle trucks to external partners and manage those subcontracting relationships.
- Maintain accurate records of truck availability, usage, maintenance schedules, and subcontractor agreements.
- Communicate effectively with project managers, drivers, subcontractors, and internal teams to resolve scheduling conflicts and address issues promptly.
- Monitor fleet performance, fuel usage, and compliance with safety and DOT regulations.
- Track and report on trucking costs, utilization rates, and operational metrics.
- Assist with driver oversight, paperwork, and logistics support as needed.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with subcontractors and vendors.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in trucking coordination, dispatching, logistics, or fleet management (construction or heavy equipment preferred).
- Strong knowledge of dump trucks, mixer trucks, and lowboys is a plus.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and comfortable learning dispatch or fleet management software.
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL is a strong plus.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early starts or evenings, to align with construction schedules.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and safety standards is highly desirable.
