Hotel Breakfast Line Cook
The Breakfast Line Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality breakfast foods according to hotel standards and guest expectations. This position works efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen while maintaining excellent food quality, presentation, cleanliness, and food-safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook breakfast items such as eggs, omelets, pancakes, waffles, bacon, sausage, potatoes, and other menu items.
- Set up and maintain the breakfast cooking station before, during, and after service.
- Prepare ingredients by chopping, portioning, measuring, and organizing food items.
- Cook food to the proper temperature and presentation standards.
- Monitor buffet and made-to-order breakfast items and replenish food as needed.
- Follow recipes, portion controls, and hotel food-quality standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation throughout the shift.
- Properly store, label, and rotate food using FIFO procedures.
- Follow all local health regulations and hotel food-safety policies.
- Monitor food inventory and communicate shortages or preparation needs to the kitchen supervisor.
- Assist with receiving, storing, and preparing food deliveries when needed.
- Clean cooking equipment, utensils, work surfaces, and kitchen areas after service.
- Work cooperatively with other kitchen and hotel staff to ensure smooth breakfast operations.
- Provide courteous and professional service when interacting with hotel guests.
Qualifications
- Previous line-cook, breakfast-cook, restaurant, or hotel kitchen experience preferred.
- Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and food-safety practices.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift or carry kitchen supplies as required.
- Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and food quality.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to frequently bend, reach, lift, and carry kitchen supplies.
- Ability to work around hot surfaces, cooking equipment, steam, and kitchen noise.
- Ability to lift and move items weighing approximately 25–50 pounds, as required.
