Job Summary
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) will provide specialized clinical support within a dedicated podiatric practice. The primary focus of this role is to extend the capacity of the attending Podiatrist by performing comprehensive lower-extremity evaluations, managing chronic foot and ankle conditions and administering routine podiatric treatments.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Evaluation:Perform targeted physical examinations, including vascular, neurological and musculoskeletal assessment of the foot and ankle.
- Wound & Ulcer Management: Assess and treat chronic wounds. specializing in diabetic ulcer care, debridement, and the application of advanced dressing protocols.
- Routine Pediatric Care: Provide essential foot care services, including the treatment of mycotic nails, hyperkeratotic lesions and preventive care for high-risk patients.
- Treatment Implementation:Assist in the development and execution of patient-specific treatment plans in direct consultation with the Podiatrist.
- Pharmacological Management:Prescribe appropriate medications and topical treatments relevant to podiatric conditions, adhering to all state and federal regulations.
- Patient Education:Instruct patients on preventative measures, proper footwear, and daily foot-monitoring techniques to mitigate complications related to systemic diseases.
- Administrative Accuracy:Ensure all patient encounters are documented within the EHR system with accuracy, adhering to HIPAA guidelines and billing compliance.
Professional Qualifications:
- Certification:Valid California Nurse Practitioner License and National Board Certification.
- Clinical Experience: Minimum of one year of dedicated experience in podiatry or wound care is required.
- Clinical Competencies:Proven proficiency in minor bedside procedures and a strong foundational knowledge of lower-extremity anatomy and pathology.
- Interpersonal Skills:Demonstrated ability to communicate clinical information clearly to patients and collaborate effectively with a primary provider.
Schedule and Compensation
- Schedule: Flexible hours available; specific clinical days to be coordinated based on practice need and candidate availability.
- Work Environment: This is a hybrid role based in West Hills, CA, that would require task of visiting patients locations based around LA County.
- Compensation:Remuneration is competitive and will be determined based on the candidate's clinical experience, specialized certifications, and proposed schedule which will be discussed thoroughly during the initial conversation.
