Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented School District Payroll Coordinator to oversee the accurate and timely processing of payroll for our educational institution. Responsibilities
- Manage the full payroll cycle, including data entry, processing, and reconciliation to ensure employees are paid accurately and on schedule.
- Utilize payroll software such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, or UltiPro to process payroll transactions and maintain employee records.
- Administer benefits programs, including deductions, retirement contributions, and health insurance enrollments.
- Perform account reconciliation and journal entries related to payroll expenses within general ledger accounting systems like PeopleSoft or Oracle.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations by preparing tax filings and ensuring proper withholding procedures.
- Collaborate with human resources to verify employee data accuracy and update personnel records in HRIS systems.
- Conduct analysis of payroll data to identify discrepancies, resolve issues promptly, and generate reports for management review.
- Support non-profit accounting practices by managing accounts payable/receivable related to payroll costs and benefits administration.
- Ensure adherence to double-entry bookkeeping principles and perform month-end closing activities related to payroll accounts.
- Assist with audits by providing detailed documentation of payroll transactions and account reconciliations.
Experience
- Proven experience in payroll management within a corporate or governmental setting, preferably in an educational or non-profit environment.
- Strong familiarity with payroll software such as Workday, ADP, Ceridian, Kronos, or similar platforms.
- Knowledge of accounting software including QuickBooks or equivalent financial management tools.
- Demonstrated understanding of financial concepts related to general ledger accounting, tax compliance, and benefits administration.
- Experience with data entry precision using 10 key typing skills and double-entry bookkeeping techniques.
- Ability to analyze complex data sets accurately and generate comprehensive reports for stakeholders.
