Blissful Care is dedicated to providing compassionate, person-centered Supported Living Services (SLS) that empower adults with developmental disabilities to live independently and successfully within their communities. We are seeking dependable, compassionate, and motivated Direct Support Professionals who are committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve.
Position Summary
As an SLS Direct Support Professional (DSP) / SLS Aide, you will provide individualized support to adults with developmental disabilities in their homes and throughout the Santa Clarita and San Fernando Valley community. You will assist individuals in achieving the goals outlined in their Individual Support Plans (ISPs), promote independence, encourage self-advocacy, and ensure their health, safety, and overall well-being.
Essential Job Duties
- Provide individualized support and assistance to help individuals achieve the goals and objectives identified in their Individual Support Plans (ISPs).
- Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs), including grooming, bathing, dressing, meal preparation, housekeeping, and personal care.
- Teach and encourage independent living skills while promoting choice, self-determination, and community integration.
- Identify barriers that may prevent individuals from achieving greater independence and develop strategies to overcome those barriers.
- Encourage active participation in decision-making and support individuals in reaching higher levels of independent living.
- Plan and facilitate activities based on each individual's ISP goals, interests, and personal choices.
- Provide transportation to medical appointments, shopping, recreational activities, employment, and community outings.
- Monitor and assist individuals with medication administration in accordance with physician orders and company policies.
- Observe and report changes in health, behavior, or overall well-being.
- Provide crisis intervention and implement positive behavior support and de-escalation techniques when necessary.
- Complete daily documentation, progress notes, and required reports accurately and on time.
- Report incidents to the North Los Angeles County Regional Center (NLACRC) within required timelines.
- Communicate with NLACRC service coordinators quarterly or as needed regarding individual progress and concerns.
- Represent Blissful Care Inc. during Individual Program Plan (IPP) and Individual Support Plan (ISP) meetings.
- Advocate for individuals while coordinating services with government and community agencies, including Medi-Cal, SSI, IHSS, and other nonprofit organizations.
- Assist individuals with accessing community resources and maintaining benefits.
- Operate and support 24-hour emergency assistance systems and respond appropriately to emergencies affecting the health, safety, and well-being of individuals served.
- Maintain a safe, respectful, supportive, and person-centered environment at all times.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field preferred.
- At least one (1) year of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, behavioral health, or in social services is preferred.
- Experience in Supported Living Services (SLS), Independent Living Services (ILS), caregiving, or direct support is highly desirable.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of positive behavior support techniques and medication assistance is preferred.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team.
- American Sign Language (ASL) is a plus.
- Valid California Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Reliable vehicle with current auto insurance.
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
Employment Requirements
- Must successfully pass a California Community Care Licensing Division (CCLD) background check and criminal record clearance.
- Must pass all required pre-employment screenings and meet Community Care Licensing employment requirements.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Ability to lift, transfer, and assist individuals as needed.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
