Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and dependable Driver to join our dynamic logistics team. In this role, you will be responsible for safely operating various types of commercial vehicles to transport freight, equipment, and goods across designated routes. Your expertise will ensure timely deliveries while adhering to all safety regulations and company policies. Responsibilities
- Safely operate a variety of commercial vehicles including tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and refrigerated trailers for over-the-road (OTR) routes.
- Load and unload freight using manual handling techniques or forklift equipment as needed, ensuring cargo is secured properly for transit.
- Navigate routes efficiently using GPS navigation systems, maintaining awareness of traffic conditions and delivery schedules.
- Comply with all FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations, DOT (Department of Transportation) rules, hazardous materials regulations, and safety standards related to the transportation of dangerous goods.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections on vehicles to identify maintenance needs or safety issues before and after each trip.
- Document delivery details accurately, including mileage logs, cargo manifests, and incident reports in accordance with company policies.
- Maintain professionalism during delivery driving tasks by providing excellent customer service and ensuring timely deliveries.
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including route driving and delivery driving across diverse terrains.
- Knowledge of truck loading and unloading procedures, including freight handling for various cargo types such as hazardous materials, freight, or specialized loads like tanker or flatbed shipments.
- Familiarity with refrigerated trailer operations and automobile transportation logistics.
- Ability to operate manual transmission trucks confidently and safely.
- Strong understanding of FMCSA regulations, DOT compliance standards, and hazardous materials handling procedures.
- Skilled in using GPS navigation tools for efficient route planning and real-time adjustments.
- Experience with forklift operation for cargo handling when necessary.
