Job OverviewSt. Thomas Aquinas High School in Dover, NH is seeking a qualified THEATER DIRECTOR for the Fall Drama Production for grades 9-12. The Theater Director will: work with students to give them an opportunity to experience and develop their interests and skills in the various aspects of dramatic production. develop student talents and enable all students to develop an understanding and appreciation for dramatic arts.
manage the overall practical and creative interpretation of a dramatic script, taking into account budgetary and physical aspects of a production. work within all stages of the process, from design and pre-production stages to rehearsal and final performances. bring enthusiasm, energy, and passion to the work. demonstrate excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.Duties and Responsibilities direct and coordinate the fall drama production work with the Fine Arts Department Chair and Principal to either select a play or produce a play that adheres to the mission of the school casts the production hold regular meetings, auditions, and rehearsals responsible for set design, props, costumes, construction, and painting coordinate sound and lighting for performances communicate with the Advancement Department and the Department Chair to advertise for performances communicate with parents, staff, Department Chair, and administration on schedule, rehearsals, and use of facilitiesEducation and Experience Past experience with theater and/or actual involvement in theatrical productions.
Knowledge of all aspects of a theatrical program. Knowledge of methods for teaching acting and the theater process.
