K–5 Child Development & Special Needs Tutor
Tutor Doctor El Paso is hiring K–5 Child Development Tutors!
We are looking for compassionate, patient, and engaging tutors who can build meaningful relationships with students and help them feel comfortable, supported, and successful during their tutoring sessions.
Many of our students have unique learning needs, including high-functioning autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dysgraphia, executive functioning challenges, and developmental delays. We are seeking tutors who are passionate about helping students grow academically while building confidence and independence.
Position Overview
As a K–5 Child Development Tutor, you will provide one-on-one, in-home tutoring to elementary-aged students in core academic subjects while supporting their individual learning styles and developmental needs.
Hourly Wage: $25.00–$27.00 per hour
Responsibilities
As a Tutor, you can be relied upon to:
- Travel to students’ homes (all families are pre-screened)
- Schedule consistent weekly tutoring appointments with students and families
- Support students in reading, writing, math, and other elementary core subjects
- Adapt instruction to students with ADHD, autism, dyslexia, dysgraphia, and other learning differences
- Incorporate strategies that support executive functioning, attention, organization, and confidence
- Assist students with fine motor development and handwriting skills when appropriate
- Build strong, positive relationships with students and families
- Create engaging and individualized learning experiences that foster academic growth
Qualifications
We are looking for candidates who have:
- A passion for Early Childhood Education and Child Development
- Experience working with children with special needs and learning differences
- Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Creativity and flexibility in adapting lessons
- Understanding of child development and diverse learning styles
- Knowledge of elementary reading, writing, and math instruction
- Experience supporting handwriting and fine motor skill development is highly preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, Education, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Speech-Language Pathology, or a related field (or currently pursuing one)
Requirements
- At least two years of experience working with children in educational, therapeutic, childcare, special education, or related settings
- Experience supporting students with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dysgraphia, developmental delays, or other learning differences is strongly preferred
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to travel to student homes throughout El Paso
- Comfortable working independently and communicating regularly with families and Tutor Doctor staff
Successful Candidates Must
- Be open to completing a criminal background check (if not already completed)
- Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and a genuine desire to help students succeed
