Role: The Chief Lending Officer (CLO) serves as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team responsible for establishing and executing CapEd’s enterprise lending strategy across commercial, business, mortgage and consumer lending. The CLO provides strategic leadership for the credit union’s lending portfolio, balancing sustainable growth, profitability, member value, credit quality, regulatory compliance and prudent risk management.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Provides strategic direction for the Credit Union’s lending function, including consumer, commercial, business, and residential mortgage lending, ensuring alignment with the organization’s strategic plan, mission, financial objectives, and risk appetite.

Develops and executes the organizational lending strategy, identifying opportunities to drive sustainable loan growth, expand market share, deepen member relationships, diversify the portfolio, and generate profitable revenue.

Maintains executive accountability for lending financial performance, including portfolio growth, pricing, yield, profitability, asset mix, credit quality, and other key performance indicators. Partners with Finance on forecasting, budgeting, ALM, and overall financial performance.

Provides oversight of credit risk and portfolio management, establishing appropriate underwriting standards, credit authorities, concentrations, risk tolerances, and monitoring practices to balance responsible growth with strong asset quality.

Leads the development and evolution of lending products, channels, technology, and processes, leveraging data, automation, digital capabilities, and continuous improvement to enhance efficiency, scalability, decision making, and the member experience.

Monitors economic, competitive, regulatory, and industry trends and proactively adjusts lending strategies, products, pricing, underwriting, and portfolio approaches in response to emerging opportunities and risks.

Ensures lending activities operate in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, fair lending requirements, and regulatory expectations, partnering with Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Internal Audit to maintain effective controls and address identified concerns.

Collaborates with the Executive Leadership Team to drive growth, innovation, and operational excellence across all business functions.

Provides the CEO, Board of Directors, and applicable committees with clear and forward looking insight into lending strategy, financial and portfolio performance, credit risk, market conditions, emerging risks, and significant opportunities; represents the Credit Union with regulators and external stakeholders as appropriate.

Builds, leads, develops, and holds accountable a high-performing lending leadership team, establishing clear expectations, developing talent and succession pipelines, and fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, sound judgment, member focus, and responsible risk-taking.

Oversee hiring, assessing performance, coaching, and developing direct and indirect employees in adherence to PXT policies and employment law.

Maintains knowledge of all Credit Union products, services, and promotions.

Contributes to efficient Credit Union operations by performing other job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills:
Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible management experience in a financial institution setting. Demonstrated experience overseeing consumer, mortgage, business banking and commercial lending programs.
Education: A bachelor's degree.

Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions: protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes and/or seasonal brightness through windows. This position may involve periodic stressful conditions. The Credit Union's business days are Monday through Saturday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.; however, this position may occasionally require an adjusted work schedule, overtime, and to include evening/weekend hours. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
