Norbeck Montessori has an opening for a Lead Montessori Teacher in one of our Toddler classrooms. Norbeck offers a Montessori education as well as quality before and after-school programs, provided by our professional and caring staff. We have preschool programs with extended, full and half-day program options. Our teachers are dedicated to assisting each child in attaining their optimal education and social potential. Through the Montessori teaching methodology, we provide an enriched program that makes learning challenging, exciting, and enjoyable.
The qualified candidate will have a STRONG work ethic, be flexible, have a passion for working with young children as well as good communication skills. The qualified candidate MUST have an Early Childhood Montessori Credential.
Overall Responsibilities
Responsible for the overall care of the entire classroom. To include but not limited to the supervision of the children, lesson planning, classroom organization as well as following all the policies and procedures set forth in the Norbeck Montessori Employee Handbook.
Specific Job Responsibilities
Develop an educational program which is geared to the intellectual, physical, emotional and social needs of the individual child. Participates in recommending, supervising and evaluating the teacher assistants.
- Plan and conduct daily activities for the program in the classroom and outdoors.
- Responsible for maintaining consistency and order in the classroom.
- Coordinates efforts with other staff.
- Maintain an environment that promotes optimal growth and development of children, while following the Montessori Method.
- Set classroom expectations for students, parents and assistant teachers.
- Model appropriate behavior for both students and staff.
- Responsible for daily attendance.
- Responsible for classroom needs.
- Observe, record and report significant learning/behavior concerns of children to the Head of School.
- Communicate with parents.
- Assist other staff to keep Norbeck organized and presentable at all times.
- Supervise and guide assistant teachers/floaters as needed.
- Escalate issues or concern with staff to the Head of School.
- Create fair and equitable job assignments for assistant teachers/floaters.
- Ensure ALL assignments are complete, as required.
