Duties
- Safely operate a variety of commercial vehicles including tractor-trailers, flatbeds, refrigerated trailers, tankers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks using manual transmissions when required.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with DOT regulations.
- Navigate routes efficiently using GPS navigation systems to meet delivery schedules while adhering to all traffic laws.
- Load and unload freight manually or with equipment such as forklifts, ensuring proper handling of hazardous or dangerous goods in accordance with hazardous materials regulations.
- Deliver freight accurately to local destinations, managing logistics cargo handling processes from pickup to drop-off.
- Maintain detailed logs of driving hours, cargo documentation, and delivery records in compliance with FMCSA regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding route changes, delivery updates, or safety concerns during daily operations.
Qualifications
- Valid CDL Class A license with proven experience in commercial truck driving and route driving.
- Demonstrated ability to operate manual transmission trucks safely and efficiently.
- Experience handling refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, hazardous materials (dangerous goods), and freight requiring manual handling.
- Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and route planning for optimized deliveries within local areas.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations, FMCSA standards, hazardous materials regulations, and safety protocols for commercial trucking.
- Prior delivery driver experience preferred; familiarity with load & unload procedures is advantageous.
- Ability to operate auxiliary equipment such as forklifts or dump trucks when necessary for freight handling.
