Job Description: Construction Project Manager
Summary:
Our company is a growing Commercial Construction Firm. We provide construction management and general contracting services for our clients, who range from commercial real estate developers to business owners. The Project Manager will be primarily responsible for planning and managing a wide range of construction projects from start to finish, in order to guarantee that all projects are delivered on time according to requirements, and without exceeding budget. The ability to organize and oversee construction procedures and ensure that they are completed in a timely and efficient manner is crucial. There is a genuine opportunity to grow within the company.
Responsibilities:
This is a dynamic position in which the wide range of responsibilities changes often, ranging from managerial to administrative to technical. The Project Manager will work with the company owner, operations team, superintendents, and our skilled tradesmen to perform the following tasks:
- Be held accountable to meet and exceed the company Project Profit goals
- Schedule subcontractors, vendors, and consultants to ensure timely completion
- Perform quality control duties to review that all work is being completed properly and to the highest of standards
- Communicate with project team, subcontractors, vendors, company owner, etc.
- Identify that all workers are working safely according to industry standards/ensure adherence to all health and safety standards and report issues
- Coordinate required inspections with local jurisdictions
- Identify conflicts in construction progress and report them to the project team for resolution
- · Preside over subcontractor coordination meetings to properly coordinate the work
- · Perform job progress and completion lists/ Evaluate progress and prepare detailed reports
- · Drive projects to completion based on schedule, and on budget with the company owner
- · Assist in budgeting, bidding, and awarding of subcontractors
- Assist in obtaining permits and licenses from appropriate authorities
- Assist in hiring sub-tier employees
- Assist in managing project costs and budgets
- Pick-up and deliver materials to job sites as needed, as well as receive deliveries to job sites
- Prepare project schedules and budgets
- Review plans and comment on the design, schedule, possible cost saving measures, etc.
- · Handle all situations in a professional manner
- · Assist the company owner with management
- · Collaborate with engineers, architects etc. to determine the specifications of the project
- · Determine needed resources (manpower, equipment and materials) from start to finish with attention to budgetary limitations
- · Plan all construction operations and schedule intermediate phases to ensure deadlines will be me
- Prepares bids and cost estimates that address every part of a building project
- Helps keep building projects within the client’s budget limitations
- Submits customized reports to clients
Supervisory Responsibilities and Work Environment:
The Project Manager will report directly to the Operations Manager. The Project Manager’s main task is to complete project management and cost estimating for Montgomery Construction. The work environment will consist of the company’s office and job sites. You will be required to travel to construction job sites, meet with clients at various locations, and work in high-pressure situations.
Education and Other Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering or Construction Management
- PMP or equivalent certification will be an advantage
- Knowledge of construction processes and building science
- Experience working in the construction industry
- Ability to organize and prioritize effectively
- Ability to interpret data and make cost effective decisions
- Ability to adapt and work efficiently in a rapidly changing dynamic environment with deadline pressures
- Demonstrated ability in dealing directly with clients
- Strong communication (verbal, written, presentation) and interpersonal skills
- Thorough knowledge of trades
- Project management skills involving in estimating, scheduling and budgeting/cost control
- Reliable, detailed and organized
