ACADEMIC INSTRUCTOR (MATHEMATICS or READING & VERBAL SKILLS)
Location: Great Lakes, IL (On-Site) / Work will be performed at Recruit Training Command (RTC), Naval Station Great Lakes, Illinois.

Position Summary: Language on Demand (LOD) is seeking qualified Academic Instructors to support the U.S. Navy Future Sailor Preparatory Course. Instructors will provide classroom instruction, tutoring, study hall support, academic remediation, and individualized coaching designed to improve ASVAB performance and overall academic readiness.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver classroom instruction to groups of up to 30 students.
- Conduct individual and small-group tutoring sessions.
- Facilitate study hall sessions and remedial instruction activities.
- Develop individualized learning strategies for students requiring additional support.
- Administer and grade assessments, quizzes, and examinations.
- Monitor student performance, attendance, and academic progress.
- Maintain student records and instructional documentation.
- Utilize classroom instructional technologies, including AECs, PTCs, VTT systems, Electronic Podiums, Learning Management Systems, and Government-provided instructional tools.
- Participate in instructor certification, annual evaluations, and professional development activities.
Mathematics Instructor Qualifications
- Experience teaching Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Arithmetic Reasoning, or related mathematics subjects.
Reading & Verbal Skills Instructor Qualifications
- Experience teaching reading comprehension, literacy, vocabulary development, English, verbal reasoning, or related subjects.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, Reading Education, English, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience teaching young adults in a high school, college, military, or adult education environment.
- Completion of one of the following:
- Military Service Instructor Training Course (ITC)
- Instructor training through an accredited academic institution
- Academic credentialing or teacher certification
- (a) Strong oral and written communication skills.
- (b) U.S. Citizenship required.
- (c) Must be able to obtain and maintain access to U.S. military installations.
Preferred Qualifications
- ASVAB preparation or standardized test preparation experience.
- Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD), Navy, or military training programs.
- Experience working with military personnel or young adult learners.
- Familiarity with military training environments and instructional technology systems.
Pay: $55,000.00 - $73,000.00 per year
