Software Engineer I

About the Role
Sonablate is seeking a Software Engineer I to join our Research & Development team in Indianapolis. This position is an opportunity to contribute to the development and support of software used in innovative medical-device technology involving ultrasound and High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU).
The Software Engineer I will work with the R&D team throughout the software development life cycle—from early concept discussions and design through development, testing, documentation, and ongoing software maintenance.
This role is well suited for an early-career software engineer who has a strong foundation in C++ and Java and is interested in applying software engineering skills within the medical-device industry.
What You'll Do
- Assist with the complete software development life cycle for medical devices using ultrasound and/or HIFU technology.
- Participate in software design, development, testing, maintenance, and documentation activities.
- Support software quality control and validation processes.
- Participate in code reviews and software testing activities.
- Develop, execute, and/or support test plans, test cases, and test scripts.
- Assist with creating and maintaining software documentation.
- Collaborate with members of the Research & Development team and other cross-functional partners.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking ForRequired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Working knowledge of C++ and Java.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in English.
- Ability to work effectively within a collaborative development environment.
