Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Grounds Manager to lead and oversee all aspects of groundskeeping, landscape maintenance, and outdoor project execution. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining the aesthetic appeal, safety, and functionality of outdoor spaces through expert supervision of landscaping activities, equipment operation, and team management. Your leadership will ensure that all grounds-related projects are completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards, creating inviting environments that enhance the overall experience for visitors and staff alike. Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate grounds maintenance activities including lawn care, landscape upkeep, planting, pruning, and tree care to ensure healthy growth and visual appeal.
- Manage landscaping projects involving hardscape installation, irrigation systems, gardening initiatives, and construction projects from planning through completion.
- Operate and maintain grounds maintenance equipment such as mowers, trimmers, irrigation systems, and other landscaping tools with safety and efficiency in mind.
- Lead a team of grounds crew members by assigning tasks, providing training on equipment operation and horticultural practices, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Oversee irrigation management to ensure proper watering schedules, system repairs, and water conservation practices are followed diligently.
- Identify plants accurately to support horticultural health initiatives and troubleshoot issues related to pests or disease.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols during outdoor work activities while maintaining high standards of quality in all landscaping efforts.
Experience
- Proven supervising experience in grounds management or landscape maintenance roles with demonstrated leadership skills.
- Extensive outdoor work experience involving lawn care, gardening, tree care, hardscape installation, and grounds maintenance equipment operation.
- Strong knowledge of horticulture principles including plant identification, soil health, pest management, and landscape design.
- Construction experience related to projects or similar outdoor infrastructure development is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with irrigation systems installation and troubleshooting as well as hardscape features such as pathways or retaining walls.
- Ability to operate company vehicles safely and efficiently while adhering to transportation regulations.
- Excellent team management skills with the ability to motivate crews effectively while ensuring safety standards are maintained at all times.
