Join our dynamic team as a Tow Truck Driver/Mechanic, where you’ll be at the forefront of vehicle recovery and repair operations. You’ll operate specialized tow trucks, including flatbed and traditional models, while applying your automotive expertise to diagnose and repair vehicles on the spot. Responsibilities
- Safely operate tow trucks, including flatbed and wheel-lift models, to recover and transport vehicles efficiently
- Conduct thorough automotive diagnostics to identify mechanical issues quickly and accurately
- Perform repairs on vehicles, focusing on automotive repair, engine troubleshooting, transmission issues (manual transmission experience preferred), and mechanical repairs for trucks and cars
- Secure loads following cargo securement protocols to ensure safe transportation of vehicles and equipment
- Load and unload vehicles with precision using appropriate equipment such as forklifts or other lifting devices
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly with clients, explaining repair or recovery procedures, and managing conflict professionally when necessary
- Maintain detailed records of all towing activities, repairs performed, vehicle condition reports, and shift logs
Qualifications
- Proven mechanic experience with strong mechanical knowledge of vehicle systems and diagnostics
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with clean driving record; experience in commercial driving is essential
- Hands-on experience with automotive repair, including working on trucks and passenger vehicles
- Familiarity with automotive diagnostics tools and techniques for troubleshooting engine or transmission problems
- Knowledge of cargo securement protocols to ensure safe transport of vehicles or equipment
- Ability to operate tow trucks safely under various conditions; experience with flatbed tow trucks is highly desirable
- Skilled in conflict management to handle customer interactions professionally in stressful situations
- Proficiency in using forklifts or similar lifting equipment for loading/unloading vehicles or cargo
