Position Duties and Functions

Serve as a key point of contact for property managers and commercial clients, gathering clarification, confirming scope details, and ensuring alignment prior to bid submission.

Represent Grunder Landscaping Co. in a professional manner that aligns with our core values, mission, and high standards of integrity and accountability.

Stay attuned to client needs and project opportunities that may lead to additional work; actively supporting the team by identifying and communicating potential add-on services.

Perform precise and efficient takeoffs for multiple landscape projects, including site prep, planting, irrigation, hardscaping, and enhancements—often under tight timelines.

Generate a high volume of competitive bids and position each proposal for successful project execution.

Develop proposals that reflect desired gross profit margins; provide rationale when deviations are needed based on project conditions.

Monitor and manage the status of active and upcoming projects to ensure workflow remains balanced, deadlines are met, and handoffs are smooth across departments.

Conduct job site visits to evaluate site conditions, clarify project scope, or support project planning

Track and manage multiple bids simultaneously, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.

Maintain organized estimate files and documentation to support project transitions and auditability.

Communicate proactively with vendors and subcontractors to gather updated pricing and availability details.

Manage the proposal process from initial lead to final submission, including scope development, pricing strategy, and formatting.

Monitor bid outcomes and incorporate feedback to continuously improve estimating accuracy and effectiveness.

Stay current on regional construction trends, pricing changes, and industry best practices.

Provide reporting on bid activity, win/loss analysis, and gross profit tracking to the Business Development Manager.

Support process improvements for estimating, project setup, and documentation workflows.

Maintain an understanding of local codes, construction safety practices, and industry standards relevant to commercial landscape construction.

Participate in industry events and client meetings to represent the company and uncover new project leads.

Working Conditions
Requires constant contact with candidates, coworkers, and the public. Work is normally performed in air-conditioned/heated facility. Majority of work is performed at a desk. May require visits to outdoor job sites periodically.
This is a full-time position, with the majority of work taking place Monday through Friday. However, due to the nature of the role, candidates should expect to often work outside typical office hours. This includes evenings, early mornings, and occasional weekends to attend networking events, client meetings, and other business development opportunities essential to growing and maintaining strong relationships. Flexibility and a willingness to be present where opportunities arise are key to success in this role.
Special Equipment
Must possess working knowledge of office machines and equipment including, but not limited to: desktop computer and all related software, printers, multi-line phone systems, copier, scanner, and other general office equipment.
