Staff / Senior Accountant
Company: MedTherm (A Raptor Scientific / TransDigm Group Company)
Location: Huntsville, AL (On-site)
Reports To: General Manager (Site Leadership)
Position Overview
MedTherm designs and manufactures precision thermal and sensing solutions for aerospace and defense applications. We are seeking a Staff or Senior Accountant to manage the complete accounting function for our Huntsville site.
As the sole on-site finance professional, you will operate with significant autonomy and have direct accountability for all local financial operations. This role requires a hands-on professional who can manage daily transactional data while providing strategic, data-driven financial insights to site leadership.
Core Performance Behaviors
To be successful at MedTherm, candidates must demonstrate specific foundational behaviors that drive our high-performance culture:
· Bias for Action: Self-directed and proactive. You possess the drive to investigate anomalies and resolve issues independently rather than waiting for direction.
· Act Like an Owner: Real accountability for the site's financial health. You take personal pride and ownership in the accuracy, timeline, and execution of the monthly close process.
· Open & Transparent Communication: Straightforward, candid, and data-driven. You communicate critical financial realities to leadership clearly and concisely, backed by solid analytics.
· Intellectual Curiosity: A strong desire to understand how operational levers and manufacturing shop-floor activities directly drive the financial results, rather than just processing transactional data.
· Driven to Win: A continuous improvement mindset. You are fundamentally dissatisfied with broken, manual, or clunky processes and possess the determination to optimize them.
Core Responsibilities
· Full-Cycle Accounting: Manage end-to-end accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing/reconciliation.
· Financial Closing: Lead all month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
· Compliance & Audit: Support internal controls compliance, manage audit requests, and ensure strict adherence to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Internal Trade Compliance (ITC) requirements.
· Operations Partnering: Collaborate with the Operations team to analyze cost drivers, variances, and manufacturing performance.
· Process Improvement: Identify and resolve process inefficiencies or outdated workflow steps.
Qualifications & Requirements
· Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
· Experience: Staff Level: 2+ years of full-cycle accounting experience | Senior Level: 4+ years of full-cycle accounting experience.
· Industry Experience: Prior accounting experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment is strongly preferred.
· Technical Skills: Proficiency with ERP systems and a strong understanding of government contract invoicing (e.g., DCAA billing, cost accounting standards, progress/milestone billing).
· Compliance: Must meet applicable ITAR/export control eligibility requirements to support export-controlled programs. Strict adherence to International Trade Compliance (ITC) protocols is mandatory.
