Job Overview
We are seeking one or two individuals to add to our team at Woodland Playhouse as substitute educators. Subs may be asked to come in to cover shifts ahead of time (scheduled) or day of. Our program supports children aged 3-5 during the school day with before and after care programming open to school aged children as well and operates September-June. While you may receive several calls throughout a week to cover a shift, applicants are never required to say "yes" to a shift -- but are expected to follow through and be present when they do commit to covering.
Responsibilities
- Foster a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and growth.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to support student development.
- Communicate with and adequately support co-educators within the classroom.
- Work together to maintain an organized classroom that promotes a positive learning atmosphere.
- Provide support for students with diverse backgrounds and learning abilities.
Qualifications
- Motivated to learn about our programming and participating in a student-led, play-based learning environment.
- Experience working with children at various ages, with special attention paid to preschool age.
- Some understanding of early childhood education principles and practices.
- Familiarity with Montessori teaching methods is preferred. [Please note, we are not a Montessori specific school but are inspired by much of the teaching methods!]
- Familiarity with Reggio Emilia teaching methods is preferred. [Please note, we are not located in Reggio Emilia, so we are not truly Reggio, but we are heavily inspired by the approach!]
- Proven experience in literacy education and lesson planning.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also being self-motivated.
Job Types: Part-time, Per diem
Pay: $26.00 per hour
