Position Summary:

Perform venipuncture, monitored urine specimen collection, and document results for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease.

Notify medical staff via documentation and reports for testing results.

Complete data entry task as assigned.

Full time: Monday-Friday 5:15am-1:00pm.
Job Duties may include:
-
Obtain blood specimens from patients per laboratory orders by performing venipunctures.
-
Complete monitored urine collection and in house testing.
-
Prepare specimens for shipment to off site laboratory.
-
Communicate with and assist patients in a professional and courteous manner.
-
Review the specimen collection schedule and verify and complete orders. Identify the patient and confirm the correct patient record. Monitor and resolve orders in the electronic medical record.

Complete appropriate specimen collection forms, documenting tests performed and providing results of tests performed.

Complete specimen collection requisition forms and produce appropriate labels for forms and specimen tubes.
-
Enter patient demographics, tests performed and diagnoses correlating to tests performed in the EMR.

Order and maintain adequate specimen collection supplies.
-
Clean and maintain the specimen collection room including equipment.
-
Maintain records and documentation for proficiency testing and to meet all state and federal regulations for Opioid Treatment Programs (OTP).

Adhere to infection control policies and regulations.
-
Ensure cleanliness and safety of specimen collection room.
-
Perform all other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
-
High school diploma or equivalent required.
-
Associate’s Degree or higher preferred.
-
Phlebotomy experience preferred.
Certification and Licensure:

Phlebotomy certification or licensed nurse.
