Maintenance Technician – Apartment Community
We’re seeking a skilled and dependable Maintenance Technician to join our team at a professionally managed apartment community. In this role, you’ll work under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor and Property Manager to help maintain a clean, safe, and fully functional property for our residents.
This is a hands-on position ideal for someone who takes pride in quality work, enjoys problem-solving, and values being part of a team.
What You’ll Do:
- Complete daily work orders, including minor plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and appliance repairs
- Support unit turns by patching drywall, painting, changing locks, installing light fixtures, and ensuring all appliances are functioning
- Conduct preventative maintenance and inspections of equipment and property systems
- Maintain the appearance of buildings and grounds, including basic landscaping and trash pickup
- Assist with snow removal, seasonal tasks, and property emergencies as needed
- Communicate with residents professionally while addressing service requests
- Report inventory needs and property issues to the Maintenance Supervisor
- Participate in the on-call rotation for after-hours maintenance emergencies at Oak Lawn Blu and Matteson Blu apartments
What We’re Looking For:
- 1–3 years of experience in apartment or facilities maintenance
- Knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- EPA certification a plus (but not required)
- Pool operator license preferred
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Must pass a background check and drug screening
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
- Willing and able to participate in an on-call rotation
Physical Requirements:
- Able to lift and carry up to 100 lbs
- Regularly required to walk the property, bend, kneel, crouch, climb ladders, and reach overhead
- Work in outdoor conditions, including hot, cold, or inclement weather
- Must be able to safely operate maintenance tools and equipment
