Senior Tax Accountant – Individual Tax / 1040 Review
Novi, MI | On-Site
Love tax work—but not interested in the partner track?
We’re looking for an experienced Senior Tax Accountant who enjoys digging into complex individual returns, catching the details others miss, and delivering high-quality work for clients.
This is a hands-on individual contributor role with a growing CPA firm in Novi. You’ll focus primarily on reviewing complex Form 1040 returns, tax planning, and client service—without the expectation of managing a large team or pursuing partnership.
What You’ll Do
- Review complex individual income tax returns (Form 1040)
- Work with returns involving investments, K-1s, pass-through entities, and multi-state taxation
- Identify errors, potential risks, and tax-saving opportunities
- Provide clear, constructive feedback to tax preparers
- Communicate directly with clients to answer questions and explain tax positions
- Participate in individual tax planning and advisory discussions
- Manage workflow and deadlines during peak tax season
- Utilize CCH Axcess and related tax technology
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of public accounting experience
- Strong background in individual taxation
- Proven experience reviewing—not just preparing—Form 1040 returns
- Experience handling complex individual tax situations
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong communication skills with both clients and colleagues
- Comfort working with tax software and technology
CPA, EA, or similar credential is preferred but not required.
