Grade/Salary Range: 70 IMI II $50,638 - $92,287 Starting $59,305.44
DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The Food and Nutrition Services/Program Integrity's main purpose is to investigate suspected fraud in
income maintenance programs and collect any over-issuances or over-payments. The position within this unit focuses on investigating
fraud cases, reviewing customer case files, and making decisions to resolve them. It involves working with the local judicial system and
negotiating settlements. The role also represents the agency in administrative hearings and civil court. Fieldwork, including home visits
and resident searches, is required. The employee will learn and use various programs like NC Fast, NC Tracks, QuickBooks, Compass
Pilot, and Compass Appointments to manage tasks related to leave requests, appointments, virtual files, and document handling.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Thorough knowledge of manuals, rules, and procedures for eligibility
determination. Proficiency in investigative procedures and techniques. Comprehensive understanding of judicial system rules,
regulations, policies, and procedures. Strong mathematical reasoning, computational, time management and conflict resolution skills.
Considerable knowledge of agency's organizational rules, policies, and procedures. Ability to recognize, collect, and evaluate evidence
to support actions. Effective communication with applicants, community agencies, law enforcement agencies, and judiciary personnel
to obtain and present pertinent data, and negotiate agreements or cooperation. Skill in maintaining productive working relationships
with colleagues, the general public, and the judicial system. Proficient in presenting information orally or in written form.
EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Associate’s degree in human services technology, Social Services Associate, Paralegal Technology, Criminal
Justice, Business Administration, Secretarial Science, or closely related curriculum;
or graduation from high school and three years of experience as an income maintenance caseworker or income
maintenance investigator; or
graduation from high school and two years of investigative experience in credit, legal or law enforcement work
plus eighteen months of experience as an income maintenance caseworker or income maintenance investigator; or
2-3 years of experience as an income maintenance caseworker or income maintenance investigator
Must possess a valid NC Driver's license
Preferences: Previous experience as an Income Maintenance, Economic Services, or Universal Caseworker
Previous experience interviewing clients or families
Excellent computer skills sufficient to use NC FAST, NC's online case management system, as well as various other search engines and
software programs
Able to utilize complex automated systems and have knowledge of policies and procedures related to eligibility, determination, and re-
determination
