Responsibilities
- Operate cash registers (POS systems) accurately to process retail sales transactions, including cash handling, credit card payments, and mobile payments
- Provide exceptional customer service by greeting customers warmly, answering questions, and assisting with product inquiries or demos
- Upsell products and promote store promotions to enhance sales opportunities
- Stock shelves, organize merchandise, and ensure the sales floor is tidy and well-merchandised
- Conduct product demos when needed to educate customers about features and benefits
- Handle cash drawer operations with precision, including balancing registers at shift end
- Maintain excellent phone etiquette when answering customer calls or inquiries
Requirements
- Previous cashier experience in retail or grocery store environments preferred; familiarity with POS systems is essential
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage customers effectively in bilingual settings (English and additional languages) is a plus
- Basic math skills for handling cash transactions, making change, and balancing cash drawers accurately
- Demonstrated customer service skills with a friendly, approachable demeanor
- Experience with retail math, merchandising, stocking, and retail store product knowledge is advantageous
- Supervising experience in retail or related fields is a bonus but not required
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as stocking shelves or assisting customers on the sales floor
