Job Summary
The Dispensary General Manager oversees all daily dispensary operations with a strong focus on compliance, inventory accuracy, cash controls, security, team leadership, and operational excellence. This role is responsible for maintaining regulatory compliance, driving process improvements, supporting staff development, and ensuring a safe, efficient, and customer-focused environment.
The ideal candidate brings strong leadership skills, operational expertise, and the ability to manage inventory, audits, and compliance standards within a fast-paced retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Compliance
- Oversee day-to-day dispensary operations to ensure efficiency, compliance, and service excellence.
- Maintain accurate operational records including sales, inventory, deliveries, and returns in accordance with state regulations and company standards.
- Manage inventory controls, conduct routine audits, and maintain menu accuracy.
- Oversee cash handling, daily reconciliation, and deposit procedures.
- Ensure compliance with security procedures, SOPs, and regulatory requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational performance and internal controls.
- Collaborate with leadership, compliance teams, and vendor partners to resolve operational issues and implement solutions.
- Prepare reports and communicate findings and recommendations to leadership.
- Remain current on industry trends, regulatory updates, and operational best practices.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, coach, and develop management and dispensary staff to support performance and accountability.
- Support recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and retention efforts.
- Conduct training on operational procedures, compliance standards, and company expectations.
- Partner with HR on performance management, corrective action, and employee development.
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and high-performing workplace culture.
Safety & Security
- Maintain a secure and compliant dispensary environment.
- Supervise on-site security processes and ensure adherence to company and state requirements.
- Promote safety awareness and accountability across all teams.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of retail operations or management experience required.
- Inventory management experience is strongly preferred.
- Cannabis industry experience preferred.
- Experience with METRC preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Excel.
- Ability to analyze data and implement operational improvements.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- Must pass applicable background screening requirements.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Ability to bend, reach, twist, and move throughout the facility as needed.
