Position Summary:
Maintains proper cleanliness of the facility with little or no supervision.
Qualifications:
1. Education: no formal education required but must be able to follow and understand oral and/or written English directions.
2. Training and Experience: Ability to operate floor machines and experience in housekeeping procedures is desirable. Will be instructed through on-the-job training.
3. Certifications/Licenses: None required.
4. Job Knowledge: Must have the ability to use and service housekeeping equipment. Must be knowledgeable of nursing/administration, infection control and resident rights policies and procedures.
Essential Job Functions
- Clean stairwells.
- Stocks janitor closets with supplies.
- Restocks housekeeping storage area.
- Clean rail guides on elevator doors.
- Cleans stainless steel fixtures.
- Attends required in-services
- Reports all unsafe conditions to Director of Housekeeping
- Complies with OSHA requirements on Safety Data Sheets.
- Able to read and follow specific instructions on chemical labels.
- Wear adequate personal protective equipment (PPE) when working with chemicals, equipment and blood borne pathogens.
- All job responsibilities are to be performed and are subject to change as deemed necessary by management.
- Other primary and secondary functions may be required to be performed as determined by management.
- Employee is required to comply with attendance and tardiness standards established by management.

- Account for and return all keys at the end of each shift. Assure to always leave keys in the designated area at the end of each shift. Keys taken from campus must be returned the same day.

- Replaces toilet tissue rolls
- Moves trash to dumpster.
- Moves furniture.
- Fills soap dispensers.
- Cleans housekeeping equipment.
- Cleans mirrors.
- Cleans trash containers.
- Cleans tables.
- Cleans sinks.
- Dust mop floors.
- Cleans shower floors and walls.
- Cleans furniture.
- Cleans and disinfects toilets.
- Dusts.

- Elevators
- Measures chemicals correctly and able to read and follow specific instructions on chemical labels.
- Operating chemical dispensing units
- Empties trash containers and
- Replaces Laundry Helper during absences by performing:
a) Un-bags soiled laundry except for contaminated articles (contaminated laundry procedures are outlined in Infection Control Policy).
b) Sorts items according to degree of soil and type of material.
c) Performs washing procedures to remove stains and spots.
d) Washes linens, garments and other articles in an electrical powered washing machine.
e) Dries items in a gas-electrical powered dryer.
f) Cleans soiled linen room and chute.
g) Must be customer service oriented.
h) Attend in-services.
i) Other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Works in a well-lighted, ventilated facility. Subject to falls on wet floors, burns from hot equipment and high noise level from laundry equipment. May be exposed to communicable disease and body fluids and hazardous chemicals.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to lift items up to 60 lbs. Requires crouching, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, stretching, pushing, pulling, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extended periods up, to 7 hours per shift. Requires corrected 20/20 vision and hearing to normal range.
