Responsibilities
- Respond promptly and efficiently to emergency calls, providing advanced life support and critical care transport for patients across diverse environments.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations to determine the severity of injuries or illnesses.
- Administer medications via injection or other routes, manage airway obstructions through airway management techniques, and perform venipuncture for blood draws or medication delivery.
- Utilize comprehensive medical terminology and anatomy knowledge to interpret patient conditions accurately and implement appropriate treatment plans.
- Operate emergency vehicles safely under various driving conditions, including heavy lifting and physically demanding situations typical of urgent care scenarios.
- Maintain aseptic techniques during procedures to prevent infection and ensure patient safety during invasive interventions.
- Collaborate with hospital staff at Level I Trauma Centers and Level II trauma centers for seamless patient handoff, ensuring continuity of care in high-pressure environments such as emergency rooms or critical care units.
- Document all patient interactions thoroughly, including vital signs, treatments administered, and physiological responses, adhering to medical documentation standards.
- Stay current with certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS) and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) experience requirements while continuously enhancing skills related to trauma care, airway management, and emergency medicine.
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Paramedic with current licensure in the applicable region; additional certifications such as Critical Care Transport or Level I Trauma Center experience are highly desirable.
- Proven experience in hospital settings or emergency rooms, demonstrating proficiency in urgent care procedures and patient assessment techniques.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, DME (Durable Medical Equipment), medication administration, and injection techniques.
- Experience with triage protocols at busy trauma centers; familiarity with Level II trauma center operations is preferred.
- Ability to perform physical examinations effectively while maintaining aseptic technique; capable of heavy lifting during patient transfers or equipment handling.
- Excellent driving record with the ability to operate emergency vehicles safely under high-stress conditions.
- Exceptional communication skills for clear documentation and effective coordination with healthcare teams during emergencies.
